"Hell no. That sounds like a fuckin' nightmare. I hate surprise parties. I nearly sparked out me cousin at a surprise birthday once." In her defence, the daft lad had jumped forward when the family popped out and yelled surprise. And Ren, reacting through instinct, had swung for him. "Just us. I really wasn't in the mood to pull pints for a load of arseholes."
"Pint? I promised Max I wouldn't let y'get steamin' drunk again." Ren admitted with a laugh, starting the process of pulling pints for the both of them. "But what Maxie don't hear, he can't bitch about."
Edgar laughs. "Pint's all right, anyway, can't get drunk off just that."
He'll hop up onto a barstool and watch her draw the two pints. It's always enjoyable to watch someone do something they're good at, especially if they're already easy on the eyes.
"Aye, but y'know what Max is like." Like a bloody Mother Hen. She'd never met a man who liked to meddle in other people's business so much, it reminded her of the mums at the sept who gossiped among themselves.
Ren placed two pints on the bartop and then with surprising grace, pulled herself over the bar with a quick hop so she was on the same side as Edgar. "So, I'm figuring I didn't piss y'off too bad then?"
"Nah," he says, and leans just slightly to bump her shoulder with his. "Might be more pissed off right now if it was your idea of a prank, but wasn't your idea at all, was it?"
"Good." She seems satisfied now that she's heard it from him face to face. "Fuck no, my pranks are funny." See; the whole situation with Max and the cucumbers. "I kind of want t'make a point of not pissin' you off." Because, you know, she fancied him. A bit. Kind of.
"Yeah, you're good like that." Ren agreed, leaning over to nudge him with her shoulder. "S'why you make good company. Everyone else here feel so fuckin' up their own arses most of the time." With that many Lords, Ladies and Royalty knocking about it was hard some days not to feel self-conscious. But Eddie felt familiar, cut from the same cloth as she was.

Because he fancies her, a bit, kind of, and also because the idea of her pissed off is mildly terrifying.
